Painting and fiber crafts with some fun thrown in
My friend made these wonderful puff balls for her birthday party last weekend. They are super easy with a great payoff. Using 8 – 10 pieces of tissue paper accordion fold and secure the center with a small piece of floral wire. Gently separate the layers of tissue paper to make a ball. She used contrasting raffia to hang them.
I actually laid down on the floor to get the above photo.

Edie and I decided it would be fun to make meat corsages for our annual winery trip.
Materials:
Oasis flower foam
Saran wrap
Quilting pins
1 inch wide elastic
Glue gun
Various meats, cheeses, and fruit – I highly recommend you get pepperoni
Lettuce for the base
Instructions
Cut foam into 2 inch squares, make sure they are 2 inches think to hold the pins.
Cut the elastic into 6.5 inch strips and sew into 6 inch circles.
Wrap foam in Saran Wrap.
Glue elastics to foam. Use pins to secure while drying, but make sure to remove them before they get stuck.
Wrap foam with lettuce. Secure with pins.
Place meats, cheeses, and fruit on with the pins. Decorate to your hearts desire.
If necessary wrap with Saran Wrap for transport.
Please be careful as there are pins involved and these should never be given to children.
We tried toothpicks, but they wouldn’t stay in the foam.

I know I haven’t posted in quite awhile. I can’t seem to tear myself away from crocheting to actually do a post. I am working on Foofa to add to the Yo Gabba Gabba collection. As soon as she is done I will post the pattern here for free. I just need to do the feet.

This weekend was the annual Grand Parade for Mardi Gras in St. Louis. We don’t go anywhere near as crazy as New Orleans, but we give it a go. Last year at a friend’s urging I came up with these for us to wear.
Those got us a lot of attention and quite a few beads, which are always a plus at the parade.
This year I decided to change thing up and make a couple of different versions for the parade.
They were pretty easy to modify. I used iron on appliques from Wal-Mart to dress them up.The piercing is actually an old gold hoop that I had laying around that was missing its friend. Unfortunately, that was lost pretty early on and I had to re-pierce while at the parade with found objects.

Sometimes my inspiration for a project is hard to categorize. Not so with this little one. Adapted from a pattern from Creepy Cute Crochet, I couldn’t resist making this. Oftentimes, I design my own patterns, but that is not necessary when you have one so perfect at your disposal.
The story: Our sometimes receptionist was behind her desk with a pair of scissors looking oddly menacing. I decide that she is secretly our office ninja, steathily making her way through the office ready to bust people for improper computer use or stealing of office supplies. I share my stream of consciousness and she sends me this:
