Have you heard about the Jersey Devil? It has wings and feeds on crops and livestock, but has never harmed a human, at least that was what the legends say.
I felt I needed to add a new little one to my cryptid set as Mothman, Cthulhu, Roswell and Betty the Yeti needed a new friend.
The pattern is below. It has not been tested. While he is in the process of testing, the pattern text will remain up here for free. After I get the video shot, I will post the video instructions and the edited updated pattern.

Red (170 yds)
White (10 yds)
Black (15 yds)
Size E crochet hook
Polyfiberfill
Large Eye Needle
Abbreviations
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
CH- Chain
FO – Fasten Off
SL ST – Slip Stitch
INC – Make two Single Crochet in Same Stitch
DEC – Single Crochet two stitches together
BLO – Back Loops Only
Note: Entire project is worked in the round. Use a stitch marker or a scrap piece of yarn to mark the beginning of each row. Then you don’t have to count every row. Do not join unless instructed to.
Parentheses indicate a repeat. Repeat the stitches in the parentheses for the number of times indicated.
The bracketed number [] is the number of stitches at the end of each row.
I spread my increases out so there isn’t a seam on the finished piece. If you do not like this method, you can do regular increases.

EYES – (Make 2)
In Black, Ch 2
Round 1: 6 SC in 2nd Chain from hook, Change Color to Red in last stitch [6].
Round 2: INC in each stitch, change colors to White in last stitch [12].
Round 3: (SC, INC) 6 times [18].
Round 4: (SC, INC, SC) 6 times [24].
Round 5: (3 SC, INC) 6 times, Change color to Black in last stitch [30].
Round 6: SL ST in each stitch around.
Join with a SL ST.
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Set aside until the head is almost done.
NOSTRILS (Make 2 in black)
Ch 2
Round 1: 6 Sc in 2nd Chain from hook [6].
Join with a SL ST to make a circle.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Set aside until the head is almost done.
HEAD
In Red, Ch 2
Round 1: 6 SC in 2nd CH from hook [6].
Round 2: INC in each stitch around [12].
Round 3: (SC, INC) 6 times [18].
Round 4: (SC, INC, SC) 6 times [24].
Round 5: (3 SC, INC) 6 times [30].
Round 6: (2 SC, INC, 2 SC) 6 times [36].
Round 7: (5 SC, INC) 6 times [42].
Round 8: (3 SC, INC, 3 SC) 6 times [48].
Round 9: (7 SC, INC) 6 times [54].

Body is started with the legs, each on is done individually and then combined together.

First Leg

Round 4: (SC, INC, SC) 6 times [24].
Rounds 5-8: 4 rows SC [24 stitches per round]. Fasten off.
2nd Leg
Round 1: 6 SC in 2nd Ch from hook [6].
Round 2: INC in each stitch [12].
Round 3: (SC, INC) 6 times [18].
Round 4: (SC, INC, SC) 6 times [24].
Rounds 5-8: 4 rounds SC [24 stitches per round], Do not fasten off, continue to Body instructions below
Body

Fasten Off
Stuff firmly. Sew to the bottom of the head. You can sew the head at an angle, play with the angle to see what works best for your Sid.
WINGS (Make 2).
Wings are not made in the round. They are worked back and forth.
In Red, Ch 2
Row 1: SC in 2nd Ch [1].
Row 2: Turn, Ch 1, 3 SC in the only stitch [3].
Row 3: Turn, Ch 1, INC, SC, INC [5].
Row 4: Turn, Ch 1, INC, 3 SC, INC [7].
Row 5: Turn, Ch 1, INC, 5 SC, INC [9].
Row 6: Turn, Ch 1, INC, 7 SC, INC [11].
Fasten off. Sew to the back. I slightly tacked them on so they would peak over his shoulder and you could see them from the front, but you can play with the placement to make it your own.
BELLY

Round 9: (Ch 4, starting in 2nd Ch from hook, SC, 2 SC in the Ch, 12 SC into round 8) 2 times (30 SC).
Note: the Ch stitches make the spikes on the sides of the tail. In the next round, make sure these spikes stay on the right side of the plush.
Start stuffing.
Round 10: DEC 12 times [12].
Round 11: DEC 6 times [6].

Note you can keep going to make the tail as long as it feels good for you.
Fasten off and sew to the back of your devil.
