Krampus Cork Ornament

I have had a bit more time to type up patterns. Here’s another cork ornament. These are great scrap busters. Perfect, quick and easy projects for Christmas presents or to hang on ornaments.

Other cork ornaments, Leia Cork, Wario Cork, Wednesday Addams Cork, Mickey Mouse Ears Cork, Chicken Cork, and Bunny Cork.

Materials

Sport Weight Yarn

Red (5 yds)

White (2 yds)

Grey (3 yds)

Bag Color (Taupe, Green, Red) etc (7 yds)

Size E hook

Champagne Cork

Screw eye

White Felt

Glue

Black Sharpie

White Gel Pen or Sharpie

Plastic Toy Babies

Ribbon

Gauge: is not important for this project

Abbreviations

SC – Single Crochet

CH- Chain

FO – Fasten Off

INC – Make two Single Crochet in Same Stitch

DEC – SC two stitches together

BLO – Back Loops Only

Note: Project is worked in the round. Use a stitch marker or a scrap piece of yarn to mark the beginning of each row. Then you don’t have to count every row. Do not join unless instructed to.

Parentheses indicate a repeat. Repeat the stitches in the parentheses for the number of times indicated.

The bracketed number [] is the number of stitches at the end of each row.

I spread my increases out so there isn’t a seam on the finished piece. If you do not like this method, you can do regular increases.

HAT

In White, Ch 2

Round 1:  6 SC in 2nd Chain from hook. [6]

Round 2: SC row [6]

Round 3: DEC 3 times, Change color to Red, do not cut white [3].

Round 4: INC 3 times [6].

Round 5: INC 6 times [12].

Round 6: (INC, SC) 6 times [18].

Round 7: (5 SC, INC) 3 times [21].

Rounds 8-9: 2 rows SC, change color to white in last stitch. [21 stitches per row]

Round 10: SC row [21].

FO, Weave in ends.

HORNS (Make 2)

In Grey, Ch 2

Round 1: 4 SC in 2nd Chain from hook [4].

Round 2: INC, 3 SC [5].

Round 3: INC, 4 SC [6].

Rounds 4-5: 2 rows SC [6 stitches per row]

FO, sew to hat.

Attach Screw hook to top of cork.

Place a ribbon through the hook.

Use crochet hook to pull the ribbon through the hat.

Place hat on ornament. Glue if you wish.

Use Black Sharpie to make two oval eyes and a straight line for the mouth.

Use white gel pen to make teeth.

BAG

In bag color, Ch 2

Round 1: 6 SC in 2nd Ch from hook [6].

Round 2: INC in each stitch [12].

Round 3: (SC, INC) 6 times [18].

Round 4: In BLOS, SC in each stitch [18].

Rounds 5-8: 4 rows SC [18 Stitches per row].

FO.

Glue bag to side of cork. (hot glue worked best for me). Place babies in bag. You can glue these in place as well.

White Acrylic Paint

Purple Acrylic Paint

Yellow Acrylic Paint

Screw eye

White Felt

BODY

Paint 2/3 of the bottom of cork purple. The head is not a part of this. Let dry.

Once purple is dry, paint top third with yellow mixed with white. After dry, come back in with the purple and give him suspenders.

Once the paint is dry. Insert screw hook in the top of the cork.

Using Sharpie find an unmarked spot on the cork and draw two ovals to act as the eyes.

Using the pink marker, make a large circle for a nose.

Using the black marker make a zig zag for the mustache on each side of the nose.  

HAT

In Yellow, Ch 2

Round 1:  6 SC in 2nd Chain from hook. [6]

Round 2:  INC in each stitch [12].

Round 3: (SC, INC) 6 times [18].

Rounds 4-5:  2 rows SC, [18].

Row 6: (Not a complete Round) 6 Sc, Slip Stitch, turn

Row 7: (Not a complete Round) In FLOs, SC, HDC, DC, DC, HDC, SC, slip stich in next stich through both. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Cut a small circle in white. Use a sharpie to draw a W. Attach to hat.

Place hat on ornament. Glue if you wish.
