Helmet Pig

Free crochet pattern Angry Birds

I reworked my Helmet Pig from Angry Birds. I needed something for all my birds to attack. You can find the patterns for red, black, yellow and blue. There is even a green pig if you want a couple different versions. Helmet pig is now available for you to make your own. Throw the birds at them. It is fun.  As you can see, this one has already taken some damage.

As I have been trying to expand my crafty repertoire here lately, I tried my had at cross stitching last week. It took a bit longer than I expected. Here’s my progress so far:

I’m going to have to pick it up again in a few weeks. The pattern is from the shop ElCrossStitch on Etsy. There were quite a few fun patterns and she was doing a BOGO sale.

The best part of this project was the price. Materials cost me less than $10.00. I like it when my crafts give me lots of time for the price.

I was also working on my resin jewelry since the last time. The post office just released these awesome new stamps, which made amazing necklaces. And as luck would have it, the resin was exceedingly cooperative this week. No issues with setting up, so nothing had to be thrown away.

That’s it for this week. Let me know if you make the pig. I am working on Yakko’s brother Wakko this week. Hopefully, I will be able to get both Wakko and Dot done this week.

Champagne Corks and Monsters

Champagne Cork Ornaments

This week the blog post is late as when I went to do my photo shoot yesterday, it started to downpour. As I like to photograph outside in natural light, I had to wait.

If you haven’t heard of or checked out Craftsy, I highly recommend it. The pattern I used this week is from the class Make Your Own Monster. Once a month I work from a pattern written by someone else. This allows me to see things I like in the way a pattern is presented and to not have to think so much. It is the Red Monstie #2. Unlike the other patterns that come with this class, this one is not fully written out. It is guidelines. Since the guidelines are pretty similar to my notes when I draft patterns, it worked out okay. I also don’t crochet in the back loops unless it is a design element. This is where I differ from this designer.

I’m obsessed with my tags.
KODAK Digital Still Camera
I like to call this the up the skirt angle.

I used bigger eyes as it ended up a lot bigger than I thought it was from the original picture. I had fun not coming up with my own, but I definitely like each row written out for me in the patterns I use. Also I’m not super happy with the felt teeth, but I think that is more my fault.

This was a quick project so I spent the rest of the week working on my 2017 Champagne Cork Collection. This year I have chosen White, Soft Blue and Jellybean. I added a snowman this year as well.

The pompoms make them a touch harder to get into the box this year. I will be creating a kit for this color combo. Check out my Etsy shop soon.

Have a great weekend. Next week, I am testing an old pattern in order to fix any issues and get it posted.

Happy Crocheting.

Yakko – Free Pattern

Animaniac crochet

If you follow me on Facebook and/or Instagram, you know I have been creating Yakko this week.

This is the initial pattern with the smaller face piece. Hopefully when I make his brother, Wakko and the Warner sister, Dot, I’ll get it right. Then they can run around the Warner Movie Lot.FullSizeRender

He looks a lot cuter with his body.

I haven’t tested this pattern at all. Please let me know if there are any issues with the pattern or suggestions or recommendations.Yakko Pattern

Next week I will be crocheting items from other designers. I like to try other patterns so I can see different takes on things and different ways to make my crochet creatures come to life.

The next few free patterns will be from Animaniacs. Let me know what you think my series after that should be. I was thinking Princess Bride characters. Andre the Giant as Fezzik as a plush doll could be the cutest thing ever.

She-Hulk Free Pattern

She Hulk Crochet Pattern

I know it has been forever. I’ve been working on all sorts of new things. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, you should. I am finally getting used to the platform and getting a lot better at it.

Now for the main event: SHE-HULK!

I love comic book ladies and feel they are underrepresented in the crochet world. IMG_2897

Look at that face. I used my eyelash technique, because it is my favorite. I may run out of doll lashes soon. Also her booty shorts are just the cutest.

The pattern is available below. I have not tested it. I think her boobs need to be bigger. When I test it, I will try that part. I also have not calculated the yardage for the different colors. If you run into problems or errors, please contact me or leave a comment. Make sure to use #drunkenauntwendy if you post on Instagram so I can find it.

Note: Entire project is worked in the round. Use a stitch marker or a scrap piece of yarn to mark the beginning of each row. Then you don’t have to count every row. Do not join unless instructed to.

Parentheses indicate a repeat. Repeat the stitches in the parentheses for the number of times indicated.

The bracketed number [] is the number of stitches at the end of each row.

I spread my increases out so there isn’t a seam on the finished piece. If you do not like this method, you can do regular increases.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at drunkenauntwendy@gmail.com.

Cut two sections of 3 doll lashes and glue to the underside of the eyes. Use a strong glue. I use E6000. Set aside to dry while you work on the head.

HEAD – in Limelight
The head is made by doing an oval increase. Sometimes it helps to mark where your increases are going to go with a spare piece of contrasting yarn. Just note that the first row is worked on both sides of the starting chain. The face is then embroidered on before you finish the head and stuff her.

Rounds 7-8: SC in each stitch for 2 rows [48 stitches per row].
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stuff the head and sew on the hair continuing to stuff as you go.

Cut several 8 inch pieces of jelly bean to attach as hair. You can make the hair longer if you wish.

Attach the hair by folding the piece of hair in half, pulling the loop through and securing the open ends. Attach in a line on the left side of her head for the part. Attach on the other side of the line. Attach throughout the head. Using a slicker brush, go through the hair causing the yarn to unravel. This can take upwards of an hour depending on how many strands of hair you use. Then using the needlefelting tool, style the hair.

Happy Crocheting.

MCAL part #2

Wonder Woman keychain

It’s been a fun week. I had a craft fair last Saturday that kept me pretty busy tagging and setting up. My dad made me some awesome shelves to display my stuff. Due to work, my husband stained them.

IMG_2648.JPG

Now I have to make bags to protect the dulcimers my dad has been making as payment. That’s my plan for tomorrow afternoon. My daughter decided it was fun to be the Easter Bunny. She had a great time in that suit and even posed for a picture with her dad.

img_2652.jpg

Seriously, she’s 14, posing with dad is her least favorite thing. At least the rabbit ears make her taller than him.

I also decided to play with resin to make some necklaces/keychains.

img_2653.jpg

Sadly, the resin for the first set of ten refused to harden. I hate it when the resin gets all soupy. Thankfully, my second set of ten was perfect and order was restored to my world.

IMG_2656

I also got this book from the library.

IMG_2672

I can’t stop myself. I have made the flamingo, the camel

and I am working on the alligator.

IMG_2673
Don’t judge me as he is propped up against a wine bottle.

I’m trying to get as many done as I can as I have to take it back to the library soon.

Oh! MCAL. Here’s the next part. It starts right where last week’s ended.

Round 30: (SC, DEC) 6 times [12].

Round 31: DEC 6 times [6].

Any guesses what it is yet?

Free Pattern – Vulpix

Vulpix Crochet Pattern

I know I made the Pokémon toys awhile ago. It is taking me awhile to get them typed.

IMG_1853.JPG

Just got Vulpix typed. The picture isn’t fabulous, but she is ready for all who wish to crochet her. And hopefully in time for the holidays. I know I still need to get Polliwag and Jigglypuff typed.

Please keep in mind that this pattern has not been tested. If you have problems or questions, email me or comment and I will try to assist you. Follow the link vulpix for a .pdf of the pattern. Please let me know if there are any problems. Make sure you use #drunkenauntwendy so I can find your finished items.

I’ve entered Sparky, Frostina and Clyde in a Design Contest. It is all about Monsters and there are some super cute ones on here. Vote for me starting December 3. Remember you can only vote once and they usually have you vote for up to five. I may enter another one in tomorrow.

Free Pattern – Q-bert

Crochet q-bert

I’ve been busy. I was working feverishly on Nosferatu to get him done before Halloween.

img_1922

Sadly, I had the prototype done but didn’t have it tested. He’s all tested now. I really like giving things creepy white eyes. I haven’t been able to find white plastic eyes, so I just spray paint a pair in the appropriate diameter using a paint with a satin finish. I think the satin finish gives them a decidedly flat and creepy look. The pattern for Nosferatu is up for sale on Ravely, Craftsy and Etsy. I even made a kit.

I like kits as I don’t have to find the yarn colors, notions, etc. I also don’t have to buy a whole skein when I only need a few yards of a color. Let’s be honest, I usually don’t mind buying an extra ball of yarn here and there, but I’m supposed to be cutting down my stash and only buying what I need. Hence a kit. If you want to make your very own creature of the night, you can pick up the kit on Etsy as well.

Now I titled this blog free pattern and I haven’t even started talking about any pattern. What is wrong with me?

img_1339

It’s Q-bert. I love 80’s pop culture referenced and I totally remember watching this cartoon as a kid. I didn’t play the game that much. Isn’t he just adorable with his snout and big eyes. He does stand on his own, but it takes some manipulation to get the balance right. He tends to be the tiniest bit top heavy.

Before I keep rambling, here’s the Pattern.  It hasn’t been tested so if there are problems, please let me know. If there is anything confusing, let me know that as well.

I’m working on a turkey I have affectionately named Chief Featherbrain.

IMG_2052.JPG

His one foot just wants to hang out all wonky. He’s being tested now and hopefully, I’ll have his pattern up soon.

Then it’s on to Christmas Crochet. I’m trying to decide between Yukon Cornelius, The bumble, Hermie or Ralphie from A Christmas Story.

Oh and I also entered a contest with Clyde. 2015-07-06 21.34.50-2

Rawr!

I’ll post more details later on how to vote. I’m trying to get up a few more monsters entered into the contest before the deadline.

Happy Crocheting.

Sparky and Frostina – Free Pattern

Free Crochet Monster Pattern

Free Crochet Monster Pattern

I think these two might be my favorite. The pictures don’t show how sparkly she is. I also love their expressions and striped arms. Since they are hot and cold, Katy Perry music runs through my head when I look at them.

Look at all this sparkly hair.

dsc_9238.jpg

I also love how long I made the arms.
