Gus – The baby platypus

Crocheted baby platypus

Gus for listing photo

This is Gus. He’s an adorable little baby platypus that I made for a design contest. The contest was at http://www.amigurumipatterns.net/ and it was for a parent and a baby. That means there is a mommy platypus pattern that just needs to be typed up. I didn’t win the contest, but I really liked coming up with new features. The flippers are so cute, I now have ideas for ducks and flipper monsters.

I originally tried to have him fuzzy.

I used a slicker brush that you use to groom dogs to give the yarn a fuzzy texture. I wasn’t positive that I like it. Thankfully, Mac, one of my new puppies, decided to steal it so I had to make it again. I like the non-fuzzy version better. Gus is available as a .pdf download in my available patterns and at my Etsy and Ravelry shops.

Free Pattern – Beetsy the adorable beet

Free Crochet Beet pattern

2015-01-10 16.02.41

I’ve been working in this very cold weather. What a better thing to do when it is ice cold than sit inside and make creatures. I got the idea for this while I was working on Mr. Sniffles. Meet Beetsy. She’s a quick little pattern that can be made in a variety of colors. As I was going for beet, I made her purple. If you make her, make sure to use #drunkenauntwendy so I can find it.

I have made other microbes; Mr. Sa – the MRSA super bug and Anthrax the cutest little biohazard along with Clem and Lydia Chlamydia, and Eggbert the Chicken Pox. Want to make Mr. Sniffles, but don’t have the supplies? There’s a kit for that.

Max the Mantis Shrimp

Crocheted mantis shrimp pattern

2014-02-05 08.52.36 Max - The Mantis Shrimp

Meet Max. I put him on Facebook before I had made him twice to make sure there were no kinks in the pattern.

Max has been tested and is now ready for purchase. I really enjoyed making this aquatic creature. It was a lot of fun to play with his color combinations. I really find him to be bright and cheery. I’m ready for spring I think. Too much winter.

He is up on Etsy and Ravelry.

There is more to come. I am working daily on testing patterns, resizing hats, and free patterns.

BTW if you can’t find a 30mm eye you can embroider one on instead.
