Quick and Fun Cotton Grass Painting in 30 Minutes

This week’s watercolor tutorial scraps the outline and lets you get expressive with brush strokes to make a gorgeous cotton grass image.

Using simple colors and quick washes you will create depth through layers.

I think this is a really fun painting a would look great in all kinds of colors. Red, pink, or purple flowers will really pop against the grassy foreground. Make sure you have fun with it and embrace a quick 30-minute painting.

Happy Painting.

Next week we will be doing Dandelion Fluff, where we explore painting misty mountains and a fantasy element. Stay tuned.

Create Stunning Koi Fish Art in Watercolor

This one was delayed due to me and imovie having a fight over the direction of the video. Several how to videos later, I finally figured it out.

Paint these fun koi fish chilling in a pond. We’ll use pouncers to add a Bokeh effect.

The pdf of the outline is below. The sample painting was done on a 4×6 watercolor card.

Watercolor Tutorial: Jellyfish in a Jar

A long time ago, I made a jellyfish that I put in a jar, thus creating the jelly jar.

Crochet your own Jellyfish in a jar

It was a super fun project that I decided to translate into watercolor. There is a pattern for this.

My thought process had a mad scientist collecting specimens and placing them in jars on a shelf. However, they must be pretty. Hence the new watercolor tutorial – Jelly Jar.

This is a quick project done on 4 x 6 paper to make it a card. It also could be a sketch book exercise that you keep just for yourself. I love trying to make tutorials so you can have a completed project in less than an hour. I know I personally have been having trouble finding time to paint, so I wanted to provide a resource that allows you to get your art fix in but not need a ton of time. The colors are minimal, and you can change them up to any combination that floats your fancy. In the video, I talk about other ideas I had regarding the jelly jars, and I may try them in my sketch book.

I don’t have next week’s tutorial created yet, but I do have ideas.

If you follow one of my tutorials, please tag me on Instagram so I can see your wonderful work.

Sid the Jersey Devil – Free Pattern

Have you heard about the Jersey Devil? It has wings and feeds on crops and livestock, but has never harmed a human, at least that was what the legends say.

I felt I needed to add a new little one to my cryptid set as Mothman, Cthulhu, Roswell and Betty the Yeti needed a new friend.

The pattern is below. It has not been tested. While he is in the process of testing, the pattern text will remain up here for free. After I get the video shot, I will post the video instructions and the edited updated pattern.

If you make Sid, tag me so I can find it. Happy Crocheting.

Roswell the Alien Crochet Pattern

Sometimes you need to make a sassy alien. The sassiness is created by how you sew the legs on. Feel free to pin them until you get them to the right level of sassiness.

Roswell is obviously named after Roswell, New Mexico. He’s your typical little green man, but you should really go crazy and make him in as many colors as you want.

Cheetara – Free Crochet Pattern

Crochet Cheetara Doll

New Year, Old Pattern.

I’m trying to make typing patterns more of a goal than it has been in the past.

If you follow me on Instagram you know I have been painting and it is taking a lot of time. Plus I was inundated with toy plushies for Christmas orders.

Now, I am working on a fantastic custom order based off of Kevin the Bacon Scarf. Stay tuned for more updates.

Did I mention, I’m also opening a wine bar and patio. Needless to say typing patterns has not been a priority. I’m trying to fix that.

As I have said before, it is hard to find the comic book ladies in crochet form. Everyone goes to your male heroes, but the ladies are underrepresented.

Remember Thundercats? I do, I wanted to be Cheetara when I was younger. (I was young and didn’t understand cartoons vs reality). So I made my very own plush Cheetara. There is needlefelting and quite a bit of hair, but she should be fairly simple once you get those done.

As always if you make her use #drunkenauntwendy so I can find her on Social Media and give you a thumbs up.
