Free Crochet Pattern – Leif Carrot

Crochet Carrot Pattern

I also stepped out of my regular pattern and made this super cute Flareon.  I love using a needle felting tool to attach the wonderful fluff.

Croceht Flareon

I also started attaching labels to my handwoven scarves. scarf label

This scarf is made out of Knit Picks Chroma in Avalon with a purple cotton warp.

I’m also going to a charity function this coming weekend. I decided to donate a gift basket of all Drunken Aunt Wendy has to offer.

Now for your free Pattern. It is a new addition to my vegetable and fruit plush. Don’t forget to make up a Beetsy to have a friend.  Remember, this is not tested. Use #drunkenauntwendy if you post on Instagram. I would love to see your stuff.

Free Crochet Pattern – Mr. Sa – the Superbug, MRSA

Crocheted MRSA

Here at Drunken Aunt Wendy Designs, I’ve been continuing my crochet microbes series. Below you will find a pattern for Mr. Sa. He’s MRSA under the microscope. He’s got a cape because he’s a superbug. I think I’m going to have to crochet an antibiotic in order to fight off all these diseases.

But before we get to your free pattern, lets check in on everything else I have been up to.

I finished my gingham plaid scarf. I went a little crazy on the color scheme settling on Lime Green and Blush.

Handwoven plaid scarf

Handwoven scarf

This one I made with worsted weight acrylic yarn. I don’t think I will use the same kind of yarn in the warp as it was a touch sticky in the heddle. The next scarf will be purple silk made out of lace weight yarn. It should have amazing drape.

Last week I also found a bonus sweater. What is a bonus sweater? Well it is a completely knitted wool cable sweater that just needed the arms sewn on. Exactly how many projects do I have going that I forgot I knitted a sweater. I mean seriously.

Handknit sweater with cables

It is made out of Wool of the Andes Yarn in Sapphire Heather from Knit Picks. I’m a big fan of this site. The yarn is very reasonable and makes sweater knitting significantly cheaper. The pattern is called the Central Park Hoodie. It is one of my favorite patterns. I have knitted it a couple of times. The end project is super cozy. I did go up a size on the arms as my biceps are huge. (knitting apparently beefs them up, lol).

Free Crochet Pattern

Now what you have all been waiting for. Here’s the crochet pattern for Mr. Sa, the MRSA superbug.

If you haven’t visited me before, the free patterns are not tested. Tested versions with lots of photos are available in my Etsy or Ravelry shops. If you make Mr. Sa, make sure to use #drunkenauntwendy so I can find it on social media. Don’t forget the other crocheted microbes, Anthrax and Mr. Sniffles.

Free Crochet Pattern – Baby Platypus

Crocheted Platypus

I’ve been working on my crocheted microbes. I haven’t had a chance to type up the pattern yet, but meet Clint and Lydia. They are based on microscopic version of Chlamydia.

Crocheted Chlamydia

The beer koozies were taking up a bit of my time, but I have still been weaving.

Check out this twisted fringe.

Handwoven scarf - twisted fringe

I used the Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball. It created a wonderful ombre effect with very little work on my part.

I also like to make sure I try patterns by other designers to give me ideas for shaping, structure and texture.

This little porg is about 3″ tall. The pattern is available on Ravelry from Geeky Hooker. It turned out super cute.

Amigurumi Porg

On to your free pattern. Remember for tested patterns that have lots of pictures check out my Etsy or Ravelry pages. I entered a contest for amigurumi parents and babies. Here is my baby Platypus. His name is Gus. He is super cute and waiting to grow into a full-fledged platypus. If you make him, post a picture with #drunkenauntwendy so I can find it and give you lots of love.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am almost done with Pinky. NARF! Brain and Pinky should be ready to take over the world this weekend.

Crocheted Pinky and the Brain
Did you see Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain are coming back with new content on Hulu? Make your own Yakko, Wakko, and Dot and sit back and watch the show with your little friends.

I’ve also finally got back to weaving. That is my goal for this year. I want to use this expensive piece of equipment that my husband was nice enough to allow me to purchase.

Warping the loom
It is very meditative, but warping takes forever. I’m thinking of adding a luxury line of handwoven goods based on Pantone’s color of the year – Ultra Violet.

Here’s your first free pattern for the New Year. It’s a Jelly Jar! This is a great way to use up scraps of yarn. You can make many different kinds.

Wicked Witch of the West – free Crochet Pattern

Crocheted Wicked Witch

I took some time off for Christmas. We had lots of family things and I didn’t have time to crochet.

Last week was my scheduled week to make something from another designer. I am intrigued by all things taxidermy, but I don’t like the idea of dead animals in my house.

Enter Animal Heads: Trophy Heads to Crochet. The link will take you to the Amazon page to buy it. I got my copy from the library. I love the library.

I did the little mouse head first. It was quick and easy and I adore the way it turned out.

Crochet Taxidermy

I wanted to make a little army of them to put all over my walls.

Then I decided to make the hare.

Crocheted taxidermy rabbit

This was a challenge. While there were charts in the book, none of them made any sense. The neck and shoulder portions were really confusing. I finally finished it, but I may be done with this book. If you get the book, it is in British Crochet terms, but those are easy enough to convert.

On to the free pattern: I made this Wicked Witch of the West for my daughter when she got the role of the Wicked Witch in the junior high musical last year. Remember this pattern is not tested so let me know if you have any issues. Please use #drunkenauntwendy if you post it so I can find your work.

Sister Margaretta – Free Crochet Pattern

Crocheted Nun pattern

My daughter was in the Sound of Music with her high school this year. She was super excited to get the role of Sister Margaretta.

Last year she was the Wicked Witch of the West and I made her a Wicked Witch Doll to match her outfit.

This year I surprised her with a nun to match this role. I guess I have to make one each year from now on.

This isn’t tested, let me know if you have problems. If you make her, use #drunkenauntwendy so I can find it.

A while back I made this super cute Harley Quinn. I like the pink and white version. She is a bit softer in pink and white.

Pink and White

Warning, there are quite a few color changes on this one. You need to try to make them at the same spot each row to keep the color blocking right. Again this is not tested. If you have questions or problems, please let me know.
